Last year on the 23rd November Microsoft sponsored a one day focused PHP event. This occurred the day before the Open Source Developers conference was scheduled to start. The day was organised with a series of short talks and workshops held in one room. The event attracted small interest at first and rapidly gained exposure closer to the day.
The day was held with success and attendees where happy with the presentation of both workshop demos and formal presentations. I presented a talk on mod_php on Linux and fast cgi on both Linux and windows. The talk went well had some interesting questions asked regarding the use of mod_php versus fast cgi in the Linux community.
I enjoyed how there was both talk’s and workshops so you could have a quick look at how the different frameworks are writing there PHP. Great day thanks to @MSFTNickHodge for organising and getting the sponsorship sorted for the day. Meet some great people who I hope to see again at other events and alot of new faces just getting into PHP.
After as always there was drinks and dinner had with further discussion on PHP and other geeky things. Was great to meet Graham Wheldon from Cake PHP awesome guy who shares the same passion for PHP as I do. There was also a lot of discussion at this event regarding a more PHP centric conference in Australia.
